Berry alum dives into local ecology

Emma Wells (16C) had her eyes opened to the field of environmental education her sophomore year at Berry.

As a biology major, she was mentored by Professor of Biology Dr. Martin Cipollini who helped her discover her passion for environmental studies.

Emma recently worked as the education coordinator and event planner at the Rome/Floyd E.C.O. Center, a naturally-resourced education facility. In her position, she helped educate students and adults about the ecology of North Georgia.

They have more than 30 live animal exhibits and educate about 10,000 students and adults per year. “It’s super awesome and a great opportunity for everyone that comes through to experience all that we have to offer,” Emma said.

Emma recently took her love for the environment into her new position as the executive director with Keep Rome-Floyd Beautiful.
